1. Timbuk2 Cargo Tote – I am CRAZY about bags. There are two brands that I am particularly loyal to – Crumpler, and this brand – Timbuk2. I have owned several of both brands, and they are all great. This particular bag – the cargo tote – is an excellent summer bag. It’s roomy and sturdy – plenty of room for your beach towel and a good book, your SLR, some art supplies, and the rest of your summer adventure essentials. (Don’t forget sunblock – but don’t toss it in next to your SLR. Yikes.) Bonus: it zips closed, unlike a lot of tote bags. I love it. (Mine is purple, but I don’t think they make it in that particular color anymore.)

2. ENO DoubleNest Hammock – Noah bought this a couple of months back, and it is AWESOME. In it’s bag, it’s tiny and easily transportable. It’s easy to hang, and it’s super comfy. We can both lounge in it with plenty of wiggle room. I think we could probably sleep the night in it, if I weren’t scared of being eaten by bugs.

3. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens – BEST LENS EVER, especially for the price. If you shoot Canon and don’t have this lens, you’re crazy. (Unless you have the more expensive f/1.4, of course.) If you shoot Nikon, you should have this one.

The best part of all of these summer goodies? They’ll get you well into fall, and (with the exception of the hammock) can be used all year.

What are your summer essentials?

I’m not so sure… I think the hammock could be used year round as well ;)

I can vouch for the value on the comparable Nikon 50mm camera lens. Great lens for indoor and low light stuff.

Thanks as always for the write up!
