I really love doing this feature, you guys. I feel so lucky to know all of these fantastic creative people. The one I know (and love) the best is Cassandra. Fun Cassy fact: if you pair her name with her boyfriend’s and enhance them just so, their names = Macaroni Casserole. Tasty! Continue reading to learn more about Cassy.

Who she is and What She does:
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, yet I still find it hard to describe what I do. Most of my work involves animals, mixed with some surreal and/or emotional elements. I often choose animals as subjects because they have a certain innocence and anonymity that people do not. Creating makes me happier than anything else, and if something that I do causes somebody to feel even a brief surge of emotion? Then that gives me a little extra added joy, and I am very grateful.

Three things that Cassy totally digs about herself (and you should, too):
1) My hands. One of my biggest fears is losing them. I can’t imagine not being able to draw anymore.
2) My nerdy tendencies. I love things like watching nature documentaries and reading field guides and listening to Spanish language tapes while working. I love learning.
3) My artistic ego. Although pointing that out may reverse everything that I’m about to say. I haven’t started taking myself too seriously yet, I make art because I love to do so, not to please anybody else, I take constructive criticism well, and don’t get heartbroken over negative non-constructive criticism.
What she’s into lately:
Finding and rediscovering things that rejuvenate me. This includes summer, which I missed terribly after the long New England winter, meditation, and Reiki. Life is pretty hectic these days, and I’ll take all of the calm that I can get.
Who she admires:
Two of my favorite artists are Nick Baxter and Audrey Kawasaki. Actually, I admire anyone that can paint well, since I have absolutely no idea how to do it. On a more personal, non-artistic level, I admire the small handful of people in my life that have been wonderful and unwavering friends. I think as you get older, you begin to realize how rare genuinely gold people are. I’m not going to name names here, but they know who they are, and I’m lucky to have them.
She’s gorgeous, isn’t she? I am absolutely in love with this girl. You should check out her site. She’s also on tumblr and twitter.
