Another Leah! (Fact: my best friend growing up was also named Leah – which, if you’re not paying attention, is *my* name as well.) This Leah found me by googling ‘mondo beyondo’ early this year. Now, through Twitter, she seems almost ubiquitous. She’s creative and intelligent and kind, all characteristic of the Leah species. We both refer to each other as “other Leah”, which is sort of adorable. (She’s the cooler, wiser one, though.)
Who she is and what she does:
I’m a mixed-media artist living near Boston, MA with the hubster and our four kitties. I think of my art as being like a visual puzzle, where layers of seemingly unrelated images are collaged together to tell a story. Much of my art involves telling the stories of women through exploring the symbols that intuitively bubble up. In telling these stories, I find I’m telling my own story and others often find their own meaning and connection in the pieces. Connecting with others through my art, is one of my greatest joys.
Three things Leah loves about Leah:
my silliness, my loud laugh, my creativity.
What she’s into lately:
So many things! My iphone (which is by my side always), Twitter (@leah_art), the “Wreck this Journal” book group, and I just tore through the book “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson over the weekend and loved it.
Who she admires:
The hubster for his attitude, ambition, and creativity in business. J.K. Rowling for fighting off depression and writing the Harry Potter series that inspired so many people (including me!) Amy Ruppel for her beautiful artwork and business savvy. Jennifer Lee for her kindess, determination, and all the fabulous work she does in the world. Jessie Marianello for her gorgeous artwork and her love of animals. I could go on and on…
The nitty-gritty:
Besides my artwork, I also blog at CreativeEveryDay.com where I run the year-long “Creative Every Day Challenge” and the month-long “Art Every Day Month.” I do these challenges because they help inspire me, because I love the community that has grown around them, and because I want to encourage everyone to infuse their lives with everyday moments of creativity.
